along the way to another quilt

I signed up for a quilt along (see sidebar button for Christa Quilts) and for Hands to Help (see sidebar for that button too)...and knew I wanted to use up some floral fabrics.  But upon checking my stash, I found that I also had leftover blocks. So I sewed these into a quick little quilt that I will use for a small gift.

Then I got started on X and O blocks for the quilt along and for fun listened in to Bonnie Hunter's Quilt Cam :-)
Marianne was the helper this time. It never gets lonely in the sewing room.

Next post is the giveaway! Please come visit!

church windows progress

I am using this template to cut out 2 pieces from a charm pack...Sandhill Plums by Kansas Troubles. DH helped me by tracing the seam line on each piece :-)
Then I machine stitched the pieces together...dot to dot. Then I hand pieced the rows together. 15 rows needed for my tablecloth. I'm stitching the last 4 rows on.

While waiting for DH to catch up with marking the pieces, I was inspired to make a wool wall hanging found in 2011 Primitive Quilts magazine.
Elinor really liked the idea!

The background quilt is a frame where smaller quilts can be displayed. Seasonal quilts that can be switched out during the year. The crow and pumpkin are a favorite place for me to start.

We have a good number of crows around here...but also some other beautiful birds like Edie here...we see lots of egrets.

And a few Heron. This one decided to fly into someone's fenced yard. Good thing the german shepherd who lives there wasn't home!

Thanks for visiting. I hope you'll come back next week for a 2 book giveaway!

Quilt Along and Giveaway

Christa's Quilt Along
A fun Quilt Along is starting at Christa's blog :-)

I'm still stitching church window pieces together...only 4 more rows till that part is done. I took a short detour and started a wool wall hanging. Pictures to follow :-)
And soon...I'm going to share copies of Jennifer Chiaverini books and some sweet pins she designed to celebrate them.
Stay tuned :-)
