Mystery Quilt with a mission

Michele at Quilting Gallery sent out an email about a Mystery Quilt starting up this next week that sounded like a fun and good endeavor. Heather Spence is helping to raise funds for a young boy in need of support. She has organized a way to do that by creating a mystery quilt. I'm joining in for this and invite you to check it out. She's a smart cookie :-)  (P.S. There are sponsors involved and giveaways!)

From the homefront here...I'm working on a quilt for the big sister to the new baby. My efforts were stalled a bit with some back issues that have cleared up. I didn't get the quilting done on the baby quilt but was able to get the piecing almost complete with the second.

more later :-)

Monday's tidbits

I was the happy winner of patterns and fat quarters with the Blog Hop. The patterns are from Diane at http://www.butterflythreadsquilting.com/
These look fun :-)

Be sure to check out her post. She has the most interesting random generator :-) I've been shot!
I am having quite a time with Blogger today...hope this doesn't come out 'cattywompus'....if that is a word :-)

Other news is that I finished the Disappearing 9 patch top and am set to quilt it tomorrow.

Dog news is that a weigh in at the vet showed that Sabra had lost 4 pounds! To 'celebrate'...we scheduled a beauty treatment at UnLeashed in Cayucos :-)
You call this a reward?!

Well, maybe this feels pretty good.

O.K. I'm beautiful...now take me home!

Simply Gorgeous and Soft!

P.S. Bonnie Hunter had a good post today about word verification.
Feel free to read it and spread the word.

Blog Hop Winners!

Good Morning to you all! This blog hop has been fun and inspiring with all the great patterns and fabrics and books that have been shared across Blogland. Thank you all for joining in and for sharing with me the things you love about where you live. Many of the favorites are what I love about where I live.
So I assigned numbers to all the entries and used the random generator just hoping that somehow each entry could be matched to what the commentor wrote that they would like...DH was skeptical...but it worked :-)
I have sent emails to those chosen and here are they are...
The little shirt quilt pattern is going to:  luvzpuppies who loves to walk dogs like I do :-)
The Teddy Bear quilt pattern and the doll and rabbit pattern are going to: Tanya who enjoys nearby mountains. I love mountains but they are a few hours away from me now...unless you count coast mountains :-)
The quilted jacket pattern will be winging it's way to a beautiful farm in the state of Washington.
And the Backpack pattern is going to: Lori who gets to enjoy all 4 seasons.
So as I receive the info for mailing, I will get these sent off and hope they bring some fun into your Autumn. And speaking of Autumn...there is another blog hop! This one involves designers and free patterns :-)

It starts today with Pat Sloan. Check the link for the schedule.

Last night, I got some help in the sewing room and started the baby quilt.

A disappearing 9 patch in the making.
more later :-)
Have a great Day!

Giveaway ends tonight!

Remember to check out my previous post for the Blog Hop giveaway. I'll be drawing 4 names from the list (ends at Pacific/midnight) and posting the winners tomorrow. It has been a very fun giveaway. Some bloggers have already chosen winners...and I was one :-)  Thank you to Diane at http://www.butterflythreadsquilting.com/ who is sharing 3 beautiful quilt patterns with me from her online shop! Her "Plaid Paws" is my favorite...what is not to love about plaid and paws!

Last week I had the chance to walk dogs and stitch with a new friend. It was very motivating for me and I managed to complete the quilting and binding on my church windows table runner.

That's the shadow of my head at the bottom...not a stain. This will be going out in the mail soon to a blogger friend. There were left over charm squares so I made myself a smaller one...the size of a placemat. My DH likes the pattern and fabric as much as I do and has talked me into the tablecloth plan. Fortunately, Country Threads has a template that helps with more accurate seam marking so I'm going to get one of those and hope for a little easier stitch markings. This will give me a little more confidence with my stitching though the hand piecing will still be a bit heavy to do with the bigger rows. But since I love this fabric...it will be All Good :-)
I have a poorly lit but funny picture of Sabra. She likes this little ottoman in front of the window...to look out or just to sit on. She looks very serious in photos but she is really a happy girl.

Elinor, (the cat in my blog header photo) has taken the house back and is comfortable walking by Sabra now and sits in my lap even when Sabra is near. So the balance is restored and the cats now rule again.
We are enjoying some beautiful sunflowers
and eating some delish dry farmed watermelon today.
Hope you are enjoying a happy Labor day here in the states or just a Happy Monday everywhere else. See ya tomorrow!
